While all the basics systems, and items collected, remain the same, some aspects of The Horus Heresy: Legions are tied to timed lapses of content.
These are use for maintaining the Player's interaction with the game, be it for giving them a challenge to complete, a reward for keep playing or to present them with unique offers for purchase.
After acquiring a certain Timed Content item, it will remain forever in the Player possession, even if said content never returns.
The "Game Balances" could also be a form of timed content, but because is not a "certain" thing to happen (only an expected one), it will not be cover below.
The Timed Contents are:
Battle Pass[]
Or "BP", is a thematic reward-track system that give Players rewards based on every level they completed. The Battle Pass usually last between 28 and 30 days, and come with 100 levels to win. The reward of each level varies, but the main ones are cards (which you can set to a specific Faction for collection), Tickets, Gold, and a new playable Warlord in the final level.
The Premium Battle Pass, or "PBP", which can be bought with real money, unlocks a second track with better rewards, more Cosmetics, and the new playable Warlord in the first level.
BP levels can only be achieved by playing Daily/BP Missions or bought with real money.
Daily Missions[]
Daily Mission are tied to the Battle Pass, and you can have 4 (five if you purchase the PBP) a day, or 8 (ten with the PBP) if you missed the previous day. Only two days can be saved for this use, and after the first mission has been completed, the countdown (of 24 hours) will begin for a new one.
They offer a challenge to the Player for completion, and reward 300 BP points (and a free Ticket) for three victories, 200 BP points for playing 5 times, and between 100~400 BP points with the replaceable last two missions. The PBP mission gives 1000 points.
Battle Pass Missions[]
During a run of a BP, you'll have extra missions that are focused around the theme of said BP. If the main reward is a new Raven Guard Warlord, then the extra missions will have conditions like "trigger Ambush X amount of times", "play X amount of units with Stealth", "do X amount of damage with Sentence", and so forth. The game gives around 4 of these missions a week (sometimes more), and you can save all of them till the BP is over. They give 500 to 2500 BP points, depending on difficulty.
Weekly Mission[]
Any mission you completed (be it from Daily o BP missions), counts towards the Weekly Mission track. Lasting a week, you'll have 5 levels to achieve, with increasing amounts, and each level requires 5 missions to be completed. They give 500, 750, 1000, 1500 and 2000 BP points (5, 10, 15 20 and 25 missions completed, respectively). While you can save all this levels for completion till the last day available, it isn't recommended as it will be almost impossible to do all of them in one day (and for that you'll should have missed previous Weekly Missions).
Event[]
Events are one of the main Battle modes, can be accessed by spending Tickets (and being in a Lodge), and last around two weeks (sometimes less). While the rewards of the individual Player and the Lodge it belongs are tied to the victories they accumulated, the "main" objective of the Event is to add a new item to the game. These can be new Warlords, cards or Cosmetics, and are paired two at a time (in a versus kinda way). Players that pick Warlords from the first choice (usually the Imperial side) add points to that side and "fight" the points of Players from the second choice (usually the Chaos side). When the Event is over, the item of the side with more points gets added for all Players to access (sometimes the "loosed" item might return in a future Event).
Campaign[]
Campaigns are a unique type of Battle mode, with its own game mechanics, and lasts four weeks. All Players might access them for free (only the Faction available at that time), or buy them to unlock permanently. They give Crates, a unique Card Back and a Special Offer of the Faction played for the first time a Player completes them (and only the Special Offer, in subsequent replays).
Veteran Status[]
If a Player reach 7 days of continuous play (or at least log in the game once a day), they will earn the "Veteran Status". This can be easily recognized by the star symbol next to the Player's name, and unlocks the second tab of the Daily Shop "Buy Card" for purchases. Veteran Players will also get +50% Event points per victory during Events, both towards your Faction and your Lodge. If a Player doesn't log in the game for 7 days they will lose the Veteran Status.
Shop[]
While the "buy Expansion Crates", "buy Coins" and "buy Tickets" options in the Shop are always active, some content is tied to a timed lapse which rotates every day (24 hours in-game).
- Buy Card- ten purchasable cards of a specific Faction plus one Neutral Faction card.
- Veteran Buy Card- only available for Players with the Veteran Status, same as the "normal" Buy Card.
- Cosmetic- one Badge, one Card Back, three Warlord Quotes and Avatars, and two Warcry. These are usually related to the Factions in "Buy Card".
- Daily Deals- three Faction Crates and three Starter Deck Sets, usually related to the Factions in "Buy Card".
Web Shop[]
Or the Official Site Shop, will usually last a week, but some items will have a specific time set. In it, you can buy Alternative arts, Special Offers and cards of a specific Faction. All of these purchases can only be bought with real money.
Special Offer[]
The Limited Time Offers purchasable items might vary in what (and how) can be bought, but generally will give a Warlord or/and Warlord Alternative Art, a unique Avatar, and 15-20 Faction (related to the Warlord) or Expansion Crates. They can only be bought with real money.
Ranking[]
Be it Standard, Legacy or a Lodge Ranking, each Ranking Season will last roughly one month (in-game time) and reset after said time. The rating of Players with more than 2500 points will reset back to 2500 at the end of the season and the surplus will be added to their Legendary points (all other Players will keep their rank intact).
Winning any Ranking Battle will increase your rating, and losing them will decrease it. A Player's rating cannot drop below 500, and all above 500 rating will receive a reward Crate when the season ends (the Crate rarity will be dependent on the proximity to Terra rating).
Mentor System[]
The Mentor system offers the chance for experienced Players (above level 20) to "help" new Players. A "Recruit" will have achievements to complete (which rewards the Mentor), have a permanent Experience Boost (of +20%), and the Mentor can gift them Gems (to a max of 1000). Both Players get a Reward Crate if the Recruit complete all achievements.
For a Player to lose the Mentor/Recruit status, the other Player must not log in the game for 7 days (in which case one can remove it and search for another), but Recruits will always "graduate" after reaching level 25 (and be able to Mentor themself).
Experience Boost[]
Experience Boost can be earned (randomly) in Crates or by having a Mentor. The random ones vary between how much it gives (from 10% to 200%) and the time it last (between 20 minutes to an hour). The Mentor Experience Boost (+20%) last till the Recruit reaches level 25.
