The following is transcribed from "Support" in the Everguild Official Site for The Horus Heresy: Legions.

As a "FAQ" guide, you can see answers for the most common question about the game. However, some of these articles are out of date, don't apply anymore or have wrong information (considering the current state of the game). So use it as a "starting point" or "general" guideline about the different subjects discussed, but check any of the pages in this Wiki to get a more detailed information on any topic (a link with the correspondent article about the subject will be below each title).

For any extra doubt, or problem you might encounter, post it on our Admin Noticeboard, or send a message to one of our Administrators.

What are the odds in Shop crates?[]

[Shop] [Crates]

Crates in the Shop include 5 cards or cosmetics, which can have Common, Rare, Epic or Legendary rarity. The odds of getting cards with high rarity are:

  • At least 1 Rare (Green) card or better in every crate.
  • 1 Epic (Orange) card every 5 crates, on average.
  • 1 Legendary (Golden) card every 20 crates, on average.

To prevent long streaks of bad luck, there is a mechanic to guarantee that there are no more than 30 consecutive crates of the same type without a legendary card.

Combat[]

How does combat work?[]

[Battle]

Battles are turn based. Reduce the enemy Warlord’s health to 0 to win.
Warlords are bigger units always aligned at the center of the battlefield. Your Warlord is always placed in the lower part of the battlefield.
By default you start each game with 2 energy and 3 cards in your hand, or 4 if you’re going second. The Warlord with the highest Initiative goes first. If both have the same value, who goes first is decided randomly.
You maximum Energy increases by 1 at the start of each turn, up to a maximum of 10. Energy is used to play cards and use active abilities and it fully replenishes at the start of your turn. Your energy is displayed under the End Turn button at the right side of the screen, and your opponent’s Energy on top.
At the beginning of your turn you draw a card from your deck of 30 cards. You can have up to 10 cards in your hand. If there are no cards left in your deck, you will take 1 cumulative damage each time there is an attempt to draw.

During your turn you can:

  • Play a card from your hand if you have enough Energy to play it. To play a card, drag it from your hand towards the center of the battlefield, or onto your target. NOTE: You can only have up to 10 cards in your hand
  • Attack enemy units with your Warlord or troops, once per unit. To attack, drag your attacking unit onto your target.
  • Use your Warlord’s or a troop’s active ability, once per unit, if you have enough Energy to play it. To use an active ability, tap on the unit with an active skill to make a pop up appear on the lower right side of the screen. Tap on the pop up to use the active skill, or drag your finger from the pop up onto your target.
  • Tap on cards on your hand or on the battlefield to get additional information on what they do (you can also do this during your opponent’s turn).

You can only attack OR use active abilities with units with a green circle at their base.
Once you are done with your turn, tap on the End Turn button at the right side of the screen.

In addition, you will find some buttons to your left:

  • in this settings menu you can turn sound, music, particles and enemy chats on and off, as well as resign the current game.
  • a log on the current game’s latest actions. You can tap on them to see which cards were played.
  • tap to chat through your character with your opponent. Each Warlord has 3 free chats and some have additional ones you may find in reward or cosmetic crates.

What does each Trait do?[]

[Trait]

Some troops and Warlords have Traits with different effects and triggers. Here’s a list of all Traits:

  • Backlash: Does something when dying.
  • Bastion X: Absorbs up to X damage received by this unit, with the only exception of damage taken when this unit is attacking.
  • Berzerk: Must act every turn.
  • Blood Thirst: Can act twice per turn.
  • Battle Honour: Does something after attacking if it kills an enemy and survives.
  • Can’t attack: Unit can’t attack.
  • Cleave X: When attacking, deal X damage to units adjacent the target.
  • Courage: Does something when played from hand if your opponent has more units.
  • Daemonhost: Gains a random buff and becomes a Daemon in addition to its current category.
  • Drop Pod: Protects this unit from damage until your next turn or until destroyed.
  • Duplicitous: The enemy Warlord can’t target this troop until it attacks, unless it has Front Line.
  • Fast: Can act on the same turn it comes into play.
  • First Strike: Unit does not receive damage from a unit killed while attacking.
  • Flank: Can act on the same turn it comes into play, except to attack the Warlord.
  • Front Line: Enemies must attack this unit, unless it also has Stealth.
  • Jam: Cancels all card abilities and active effects on a troop. You can apply new effects on a jammed troop normally, and it can be jammed again.
  • Landing: Does something when exiting a Drop Pod which hasn't been destroyed.
  • Maintenance X: While in play, reduces your available Energy at the start of your turn.
  • Mark of Chaos: A non-daemon Troop gains a random Chaos blessing. With 4 Marks, its become a Greater Daemon.
  • Mission: Special type of Tactic that is always drawn in the starting hand of the game if it's included in the deck. When played, it gives an objective that will grant a reward if it is ever completed.
  • Mutation: Choose a daemonic buff. Reduce Maintenance by 1.
  • Pack: Does something when another friendly unit attacks.
  • Perfection: Does something if playing this card spends all remaining Energy.
  • Pilot: Knight Houses warlords must choose a Pilot that will set the ability, heraldry and chat options of the Warlord.
  • Poisonous: Applies Poison to troops damaged in combat. A Poisoned troop dies at the end of its turn.
  • Pride: Triggers an effect at the end of your turn, but only if the unit with Pride is damaged
  • Precognition: Unit cannot be attacked.
  • Psyker X: Gain X Psychic Energy at the start of your turn.
  • Rage: Does something when damaged, even after receiving lethal damage. If receiving lethal damage, further damage won’t trigger rage.
  • Rally: Does something when played from hand.
  • Reactor X: Gain X Plasma Energy at the start of your turn.
  • Quest: Choose a secret Quest. Complete it to trigger an effect.
  • Reflection: Can be played multiple times during the same turn.
  • Relentless: Does something at the start of its turn.
  • Requiem: Does something when an adjacent troop dies.
  • Sacrifice: Does something when this unit attacks and gets killed by the defender (even if it gets saved by Survivor)
  • Sentenced X: After taking damage, a unit takes then X additional damage.
  • Sentinel: Player controlling a unit with Sentinel will not draw a card at the beginning of their turn.
  • Shield: Absorbs all damage from one attack or effect.
  • Siege: Ability will not do anything after being used for the first time; instead, it will allow you to use it next time you play it.
  • Stealth: Unit cannot be attacked or targeted until it enters combat. Using active abilities doesn’t break stealth. Applying Stealth to a Front Line unit denies the Front Line effect until Stealth is broken.
  • Streak: Does something when played from hand if this is not the first card played this turn.
  • Stun: A stunned unit misses its next turn.
  • Survivor X: Instead of dying, get back to X health and lose this ability. Only triggers when the unit is killed with damage, not ‘destroyed’ or killed with ‘Poison’.
  • Terror: When attacking, troops with lower Attack don't retaliate.
  • Unstoppable / Flying: Can ignore Front Line units when attacking.
  • Ward: Can’t be targeted by enemy abilities. Enemy abilities that choose targets randomly can still affect units with Ward.
  • Wing: Dark Angels troops can belong to the Deathwing, the Dreadwing or the Ravenwing. These have no effect by themselves, but can trigger additional effects in other cards.

What happens if I run out of cards during the game?[]

[Battle]

When your deck runs out of cards, every attempt to draw another card will deal you 1 cumulative damage. This means:

  • Any attempt to draw a card will deal you damage. Not just when you start a turn.
  • You will take 1 damage the first attempt to draw a card, then 2 on the second attempt, 3 on the next, and so on.

What happens if there is a draw?[]

[Battle]

In Ranked games, draws result in no change of player rating for both players.
In Events draws leave the status of your event run unchanged.

What does Initiative mean?[]

[Battle] [Warlord]

Each Warlord has either High, Medium or Low Initiative. In battle, the Warlord with higher Initiative will always go first.
If both Warlords have the same Initiative, who goes first is decided at random.

Events[]

What happens if I hadn’t finished an Event run when the event ends?[]

[Event]

When the timer for an Event runs out, players with an unfinished run will get rewards based on the number of victories they had achieved until then.
Games that begin before the timer ends but end afterwards won’t count for either Lodge or Faction rewards.

How do Events work?[]

[Event] [Lodge]

Events are time-limited scenarios based on battles from The Horus Heresy where at least two factions are competing to add exclusive content to the game. Participating in an Event requires at least one Ticket.
If you are part of a Lodge, winning Event games will add Lodge Points to a pool all members can fill up to unlock a better communal reward at the end of the Event. Only Lodge members who contribute points to the Lodge total for a given event will receive the Lodge reward for that event.
Winning Event games also contributes Faction Points to unlock a mutually exclusive Faction reward at the end of every Event. It’s your chance to influence the course of the whole game!
You can opt to pay 10 tickets instead of one to multiply your Faction Points, Lodge Points and rewards x10.
Each Event run lets you play until you win 12 games or lose 3. The more wins you get, the better your reward at the end of each run.

Drafting an event deck[]

[Event] [Deck]

In a draft event, you will be able to build your own deck at the start, choosing from multiple predetermined card packs until you complete your deck, without the need to have these cards in your collection.

When drafting an event deck, you will choose:

  • Your Warlord: choose between a selection of Warlords to play as. The selection of Warlords available will change depending on the active Event. The chosen Warlord will determine the faction (Loyalists or Traitors) you give points to with your victories. It will also determine the card pool available to you while building your deck.
  • Your deck: to build your deck, you will choose packs of cards until your deck is complete. For each choice, you will be offered 3 different packs of cards, each containing 3 different cards available to your Warlord. If you do not like the packs you were given, you can reroll them in exchange for gems. Please keep in mind that this is a complete reroll and will not consider the rarity of the packs being rerolled.

How do Campaigns work?[]

[Campaign]

Campaigns are a single-player game mode in which players take part in story-driven battles representing key moments in the Horus Heresy lore. This game mode does not use the player's collection and is perfect for new players or players that wish to broaden their collection.
When a player starts a campaign run, they will play with a predefined deck that is upgraded after every battle. If the player wins a campaign battle, they will be able to choose one of three different packs of three cards to add to their campaign deck. These cards are only used during the campaign run, and are not added to the player's collection.
If the player successfully finishes all the stages of a campaign run, they will receive a crate containing faction cards and a Warlord from that same faction. They will also unlock the possibility to play the campaign from another Warlord's perspective. If the player successfully completes the campaign with all the available Warlords, they will unlock a special final boss that will reward them with an exclusive legendary card back if they manage to defeat it.

  • Legionaries can chat in their private Lodge and invite other players. All players entering a Lodge start as Legionaries.
  • Veterans are the first level of promotion. They can kick Legionaries once every 20 minutes and invite/accept players in Lodges that are not open.
  • Captains are the second level of promotion. They can kick Legionaries and Veterans, invite/accept players, and are able to change Lodge settings. They can also send one Lodge Announcement once per hour. Lodge Announcements send a push notification to all Lodge members and appear in the game announcements tab.
  • The Lodge Master is usually the player who created a Lodge. They can demote themselves while promoting someone else to the role of Lodge Master. They have the same privileges as Captains, however, the Lodge Master is the only player in the Lodge who can kick and demote everyone, no matter the player's role. Transferring the role of Lodge Masters to another player will demote yourself to Captain.

If a Lodge Master is inactive for more than 14 days, the title of Lodge Master will become available to all other members until one takes it. Any Lodge Member can tap on the Lodge Master’s profile to check if they have been offline for 14 days or more. If that is the case, closing the Lodge Master’s profile will then bring up ‘get Lodge leadership’ message.

  • The Lodge is open to all players.
  • The Lodge has at least one open slot left.

Defeating stronger opponents gets you greater rating gains, while losing would decrease your rating less than when playing against a similarly skilled player.

How do Ranked Seasons work?[]

[Battle]

Ranked Seasons let players show off their skill constructed format. Each Season lasts roughly one month. Fight opponents worldwide from the Battle menu. Winning games raises your rating; losing games decreases it.

  • 500-999 rating: Isstvan V
  • 1000-1499 rating: Calth
  • 1500-1999 rating: Prospero
  • 2000-2499: Mars
  • 2500 or higher rating: Terra

Your rating cannot drop below 500.

What happens when a Ranked season Ends?[]

  • Seasons conclude at the end of the month. The next one begins immediately afterwards.
  • The rating of players with more than 2500 will reset back to 2500 at the end of the season. The surplus will be added to their Legendary points.
  • All other players will keep their rank intact.
  • Players above 500 rating will get a reward crate based on close they are to Terra and how high they are in the leaderboard if they played at least one game during the Season.
