Gold, or "Gold Coins", is the currency used to buy Expansion, Cosmetics and Faction Crates in the in-game Shop of The Horus Heresy: Legions.
At the moment, those are the only three items that can be bought with it (this might change in the future). However, as those Crates (specially the Expansion Crates) are one of the main ways of getting cards of a particular Faction, getting as much as possible to buy them is recommended.
Earning Gold[]
You earn Gold by playing the game normally, in many different ways (though most revolves around playing Battles).
From Free Sources:
- Winning a Ranked match (up to 10 a day)= 5G each.
- Opening a Free Crate= 2 to 10G each.
- Referrals (if the referral is you)= 100G every time.
- Battle Pass rewards (the approximated amount can be guessed by the size of the "Gold pile" image displayed)= 12 to 18G (small), 18 to 30G (medium), 35 to 60G (large), 45 to 90G (very large).
From Crates:
- Event Crates (the amount could be guessed by the stars said Crate has, but because it also checks the innate "rarity" of every reward, even a "1 star" Crate could net a "3 stars" one)= 28G up to X (1 star), 40G up to X (2 stars), 60G up to X (3 stars).
- Campaign Crate (you only get these one time)= 12 to 60G each.
- Offer Crates= 30 to 90G each.
- Referral Crate (if you selected the referral, one time use)= 40 to 100G.
Buying Gold[]
You can buy Gold from the in-game Shop (at an incremental amount-for-cost), or from the Web Shop (with a weekly limit).
Both these option cost real money, and are account-bound (so be careful when switching accounts).
