Game Balances, or "Game Updates", are put in place with the intention of improving gameplay and user experience by balancing difficulty and fairness, through the implementation of a "Game Patch".

The Horus Heresy: Legions, like in most online games, apply these balances to prevent any Faction to become too overpowered, or to help them if they are too underpowered (Nerfs and Buffs, respectively). This way, guaranteeing that Players don't feel "cheated", or dissatisfied, when playing with/against certain Factions, Warlords or Cards in particular.

Balances will (almost always) be applied one or two days after a Meta Report has been released (as they are meant to work in tandem with the information provided by such). However, an "Emergency Update" might be released sooner (or later depending on the situation) if a Faction/Warlord/Card is TOO overpowered (generally when a new one of those comes out) and is making an "unfair game" for most Players.

As stated, the Balances will tackle the cards of the game as its main focus, but it might be cases when a particular mechanic will need more attention (like Traits, usually) and/or ensue a change.

While some aspects of the "meta" information of the game might be skipped or ignored (News, Meta Reports, etc.), knowing about the Game Balances is fundamental, specially if aiming for the high Rankings. You will see any changes when playing the game, but not being aware that certain cards had changed their mechanics, will unquestionably make you react "poorly" or "worst" against them (if you fight against a Faction that you haven't encountered in a while and play your cards expecting their big "finisher" to be used, only to see that it was changed and it does something different or unexpected, you not only waste your time preventing it, it lead you to make bad calls, use cards that you shouldn't have use at that moment, and leave you in a worse "place" in the match overall).

In the lists below, you'll be able to see all Updates applied starting with 2023 and onwards (as that's when the first reworks of the game where released, this way making it more concrete and straightforward). They'll be displayed by year, month, the date, the Faction or mechanic affected and the information of the cards changed. However, it will not display WHY it was changed, or from where such changes were needed, nor new cards released.  All that information can be found in the "Faction -(Patch History)" pages.

  • Dreadwing Commander: (3) Give +2/0 to all Dark Angels troops in your hand
  • Aloceri: Change ability so that it doesn’t give Flank to troops that already have it
  • Knights Cenobium: Change description to ‘Deathwing. Quest: Give +2/+2 to your Astartes in play, hand and deck’
  • Deathwing Companions: Increase stats from 7/8 to 8/8, and change Quest ability so that they also receive buff themselves
  • Arquitor Bombard: Gain Ordnance 4
  • Knight-Champion: Change description to ‘Quest: Lower the cost of all troops in your hand by 2’ (instead of only Astartes)
  • Phalanx Elite: Decrease the cost of ability from 2 to 1
  • Idravain Mors: Increase stats from 3/3 to 3/4
  • Sergeant Belian: Increase stats from 2/2 to 2/3
  • Lexicon of Glory: Change description to: ‘Deal 4 damage to an enemy or heal 4 to a friendly unit’
  • Paladin of Glory: Decrease the cost from 4 to 3 and decrease the Survivor from 2 to 1
Knight Houses
  • Battlecannon: Lower cost and damage dealt from 3 to 2
  • Ion-Gauntlet Shield: Increase Health from 8 to 12, and lower Plasma cost from 2 to 1
  • All Melee Weapons: Increase Health from 10 to 12
Imperial Army
  • Saul Niborran: Increase ability cost from 1 to 2, and it now lowers the cost of troop drawn by 2
  • Callidus Assassin: Increase Health from 30 to 35, and change the pool of available warlords for her ability
Blood Angels
  • Nassir Amit: Decrease damage from ability to 2 from 3
Loyalist Legios
  • Suzerain Destructor: Decrease main target damage from 8 to 6 and splash damage from 4 to 3
Mechanicum
  • Myrmidon Destructor: Add ‘Ordnance 2’ to ability
