The Horus Heresy: Legions Wiki

Cards are the main focus of any Collectible Card Game and the primary device with which the game is played. As an online CCG, they're always susceptible to changes (balances) to make them be "fair" to play against, or with, any Player.

In The Horus Heresy: Legions, they are based on characters or events from The Horus Heresy, one of the richest setting in Warhammer 40,000.

With nearly 2000 Cards, divided between 30 Factions (around 60 cards for each one), and more than 200 Warlords to collect and battle with, you'll be able to customize your own play style, your way.

All of them come with a set rarity which can be identified by the glowing frame they have (Grey/Common, Green/Rare, Orange/Epic and Gold/Legendary). The "combat cards" can also be of the "Premium" style (which adds to them a unique frame) and have a watermark (in the "info" side) that tells you from what expansion it is.

Cards can be bought, earn from Crates or be rewarded in different ways, and the categorization of each one varies from the Faction they belong to their unique format.

Normal Cards[]

These are the main type (in a sense the only type) Cards are divided. "Troop" is the only one not to be displayed on cards, as to mark the difference with "Unit" (which can be Troops or Warlords) when being targeted by other cards. They are separated in three categories:

Warlord[]

  • The Player proxy avatar, and the focus of a match for achieving the victory.

Troop[]

  • The main cards used for combat. Both them and Warlords have Attack and Life stats values (that can change during a game).

Tactic[]

  • The "spells" of the game, they don't have stats values and instead interact with a specific target and then are discarded.

Cards by Category[]

The categorization of Cards serves both for ease of identification (when building a Deck) and for interactions between each other. However, these categories don't change the main type they have: an Infantry will always be a Troop and a Psychic Power will always be a Tactic, for example.

Warlord[]

  • Beside being a main category, "Warlord" have cards that interact in certain ways to their unique category.

Infantry[]

  • For the "humans" type of Troops. Usually weak but with a lot of interactions with each other.

Vehicle[]

  • For the "mechanized" type of Troops. Usually big and expensive.

Astartes[]

  • The Space Marines Troops. Generally balanced with good value-for-cost.

Daemon[]

  • The daemonic type of Troops. They have varied values that serves different purposes. "Daemon" is the only category that can be added to another one.

Structure[]

  • "Buildings" type of Troops. All of them share the Trait "Can't Attack", and usually give the Player some type of support.

Custodian[]

  • Unique Troop category of the Legio Custodes Faction. Powerful and with great value-for-cost, but with the downside of having the "Sentinel" Trait.

Titan Weapon[]

  • Unique category of the Traitor/Loyalist Legios Factions that functions as a Troop. Most can't attack and have abilities that do damage.

Weapon[]

  • Unique category of the Knight Houses Faction that functions as a hybrid between Troop and Tactic. They are used on the KH Warlord, and remain on the board but cannot be interacted with by the enemy.

Mission[]

  • Type of Tactic that gives a reward after a condition has been met. All Factions can access them (in one way or another).

Reckoning/Whispers of Chaos[]

  • Tactic that all Primarch-Primarch tier Warlords have. They "transform" the Warlord in an upgraded version of themself after a condition has been met. Sometimes they might have a different name, but functions the same.

Warlord Special[]

  • Special card some Warlords have and start the match with. Usually they give a buff, create more cards, do damage or interact with Traits.

Special Card[]

  • Cards that can be created, and give a buff of some kind, but otherwise cannot be collected (and only appear during a match).

Psychic Power[]

  • Unique type of Tactic of the Thousand Sons Faction, meant for interact with their unique Resource Psychic Energy.

Secret Card[]

  • They come in three types (and are all Tactics): Traps, which are added to the enemy deck and do something when they're drawn. Secret Order, which are attached to Troops and gives them a secret effect. Secret Identity, which change your Warlord to his "true" identity. The first one can be used by the AL and BS Factions, while the last two can only be used by the AL Faction.

Augmetic[]

  • Unique type of Tactic of the Iron Hands Faction. Gives a buff at the cost of Hp and can only be created.

Artifact[]

  • Unique type of Tactic of the Salamanders Faction. They offer different effects and can only be created.

Warband[]

  • Unique type of Tactic of the Blackshields Faction. In itself, they work as any Tactic and only are categorized for interactions with the BS Faction.

Premium Card[]

Premium cards offer and unique visual flare to cards, and each Faction have its own one. They can be earned in Crates or buy from the Collection Tab in "Cards".

Because the effect is only visual, non change the card in question or how its played, and you can have their original form and the Premium version (and sometimes only the Premium version) to the max amount the card rarity allows.

Card Backs[]

Card Backs, like Premium Cards, only function as a visual "treat" and can only be equipped from the Player Menu.

They customize the back of cards and can only be viewed when in Battle.

Alternative Art Cards[]

Warlords can be equipped with an Alternative Art that doesn't change how its played, or what can do, but does change the art and quotes of them.

They can be bought from Offers and the Official Site Shop, and sometimes earned in Battle Passes for free (or always if the Premium Battle Pass has been bought).

Collection[]

As stated, Cards can be earned from all Crates or buy in the Shop.

In the "Cards" button, in the main menu, you can view all the cards in the Collection Tab. From there you can see the cards you have, the ones you don't, the Legacy ones, or sort them by Faction. You can also filter them by Rarity, Expansion, the new ones you got or the Premium version you have.
